Except from "Harder Beat's Pet Rock Concert a success"
Dallas' first ever Pet Rock Concert, April 12, was definitely a success. This benefit for Luv A Pet (which provides low-cost pet spays and neuters, see how low in their ad, p.10) raised$344.68 for the facility, and provided a lot of fun for everyone involved. Local band Swank Deluxe started off the evening, followed by Willy (from England). Yes, they really are from England, Basingstoke, Hampshire, in fact, despite the Dallas Observer's suggestion that they weren't. The excellent Frognot followed next. Shame on me for not seeing this group before. They put on a most versatile set - playing everything from violins to funk. Very tight band, Crucial Fiction was up next, putting on a great show. Go And Make Disciples proved they are real professionals, playing the gig minus their drummer, who bailed a couple of nights before. GAMD put on such a fun show, few probably noticed anyone was missing.
