DALLAS, TX; October 20, 1998 – Frognot is encountering great accomplishments while hurdling obstacles. In early October, Frognot was chosen one of the seven Dallas finalists for the Shiner Bock Battle of the Bands. In competition at Club Clearview, Frognot won. Upon tackling Dallas, Frognot was to move forward to the state competition in Austin, TX. Unfortunately, due to prior engagements, Frognot was unable to go forward in the battle.
Also in October, Frognot was chosen one of the six Dallas finalists for the Entertainment Weekly Battle of the Bands, sponsored by Hyundai. Voting then took place via the Internet at http://www.allcampus.com/bands/. Upon tabulating the votes, Frognot was elected to be one of the three Dallas finalists. Frognot is set to perform at the Dallas final competition Monday, October 26 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on the University of North Texas campus at Kerr Beach. The Grand Prize Winner receives $5,000 worth of musical equipment from Fender and a opening slot for a major concert.
On the list of obstacles:
No. 1. Blockbuster Music was recently bought out by a company called
Wherehouse. Due to this buy out, all consignment product was asked to be
temporarily removed. Frognot’s Welcome to Frognot has been pulled from 15
area Blockbuster Music stores; look for them to return after Christmas. In
the meantime, you can pick up Welcome to Frognot at Bill’s at the SE corner
of Spring Valley and Coit in Dallas, by visiting
http://www.frognot.com.
No. 2. April Samuels has damaged a nerve in her left index finger as well as developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in her left wrist as a result of drumming. After visiting several doctor’s, it has been determined that surgery is necessary. Surgery will take place the on November 4th and will put April out of commission for approximately eight weeks.
No. 3. The final obstacle: Bassist Todd Samuels has decided to leave the
band in order to focus on a career in an industry other than music.
Fortunately, Todd has agreed to stay with the band through the month of
December to give Frognot time find and work in a new bassist. Frognot is
seeking a funk/groove bassist with strong back up vocals. Being a song
writer/lyricist would definitely be a plus. Frognot is looking for a
reliable person who seeks a career in the music industry as an original
artist. Interested parties should contact booking@100proofentertainment.com
